The Role

We are looking for an Assistant Editor (Oncology) to join our Review Operations department on a 12 month FTC. You will be providing strong subject knowledge expertise to our Editorial Boards with the aim of retaining good quality articles at the beginning of our peer review process. You will also be contributing to a faster and high quality peer review for our top-contributing authors and editors.

Our office is located in London, however remote working options are available for candidates across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Assess the editorial quality of manuscripts early in the peer-review process
  • Manage 10-15 editing assignments per month
  • Ensure that suitable expert reviewers are appointed in a timely manner
  • Monitor author revisions and obtain reports in time
  • Liaise with internal and external teams to ensure process alignment
  • Identify and address bottlenecks to make the process faster

 

 

About You

 

You are a target driven individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You have a methodical approach to work, are confident working with volume and deadlines while maintaining a keen eye of detail and ensuring high quality.

  • Educated to a PhD level in oncology or bioinformatic applications in oncology or cancer research or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience in an editorial role within STM publishing would be an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Strong communication skills, decisive and tactful when working with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, be highly organized and meet deadlines
